thrift flip: quilted skirt

This skirt is giving sexy grandma chic vibes.

You probably wouldn’t put sexy and quilt in the same sentence, but hear me out! It’s all in how you style it and the confidence you breathe into it. Trust me on this one. You CANNOT tell me this skirt isn’t cute.

What exactly drew me to these pillow cases? Quilted garments are on high trend at the moment. For me, it’s hard to find a color/ print combo that I like, so when I initially saw these pillow cases, I was surprised at how much I really loved them. My initial thought was that I love the color combo. The pastel color combo is so delightful and fun.

I saw these quilted pillow cases in the thrift store for $5 each and although I debated getting them bc of the price, my love for the colors and design didn't allow me to leave them at the store. As soon as I saw them, I immediately knew what I was going to create so I got work.

HOW I DID IT:

*Watch tutorial here to see how I created it.

  1. Separated the front the pillowcase from the back. The back of the pillowcases were solid white.

  2. I used a pencil skirt pattern and shortened it in the length that I wanted. For this skirt, I also gave it a curved hem.

  3. I used most of the scraps and leftover pieces for waistband facing and to bind the bottom hem of the skirt.
