Designer Look for Less: Zimmerman

You know I love a good Designer Look for Less. This one gets all the heart eyes! I love that JOANN Stores has everything I need to complete the looks I want to create. This Zimmerman dress retails at $1074 USD. Yeah. You read that right! I saw this one on several of my fave fashion influencers and added it to my list of Summer Makes. In order for it to be fitting for Summer, I knew I had to make a small modification to ensure that this look was weather appropriate.

MODIFICATIONS

  • I used the Adelina Dress pattern as a base because it only required minor modications. The first was to omit the sleeves. I created a sleeveless dress and made a facing for the sleeves and blind stitched them in place on the inside of the dress.

  • I broke up the dress in 7”-8” sections. This also added length to the dress which I needed. Once each section was broken aprt, I added a 1/2” seam allowance to the top and bottom of each pattern piece.

  • In the waistband, I added elastic. (This is optional.)

  • Before I added the button facing, I attached the rick rack.

  • Buttons. I only added the buttons to the bodice of the dress.
