You Look Radish-ing

If you guys were following me on Instagram last year, you know I LOVE gardening. I mean...I was attempting to compete with Oprah and her gigantic cabbages. Let me just say though, she was not aware of our competition LOL! But either way, I have so much fun growing all kinds of different vegetables.

While I’m waiting on the weather to warm up, I wanted to create a fun apron that I could use to carry my gardening tools, seeds, and other things I’ll need help carrying.  Also, let’s not forget that this apron will also do the job of making me look super cute in the garden. This project also gave me an excuse to use some of my favorite Fiskars tools!

I absolutely love the fun colors on the Tye Dye Scissors. I’ll take any excuse to add more colors and patterns to my crafting supplies.  These scissors can be used for a ton of different things including paper and fabric. I do recommend labeling your scissors if you decide to use these as fabric scissors so you don’t accidentally use them with some other material that will dull or even worse, damage them.
The Fiskars Vinyl Positioner made it so much easier to make sure everything was straight and perfect! If you’re a perfectionist like me, this is definitely a tool you’ll want to pick up. This tool can be used on just about any flat surface you’d place vinyl on.  It works great on t-shirts, bags, fabric, and of course, aprons! If you’re looking to place vinyl on curved surfaces, like a mug for example, they also have a curved option you can grab and use for those projects.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Take your canvas fabric and create an apron according to the instructions in the diagram.
Note: My local fabric store didn't have the fabric color that I wanted so I dyed mine. If you are dyeing your fabric, allow it to dry before moving forward.

  2. Iron the interfacing onto the back of the cotton fabric. This will not only stiffen the fabric, but it will also adhere to the apron when heat is applied.

  3. Import the file into your craft cutting machine and cut out the radishes out of the cotton fabric and words out of the black vinyl. Adjust the size if needed.

  4. As a perfectionist, the Fiskars Vinyl Positioner is a definite must. This tool is great because as a crafter, I don’t want my projects to look ‘homemade’. I want them to look professionally done. This tool does the job! It takes the guesswork out of applying the vinyl and fabric cut outs onto my projects perfectly. It comes out straight every time.  Use the positioner to align your vinyl on the apron where you want it and iron it down onto the apron.

  5. That’s it!
