Instructions

  1. Hoop the Stabilizer
Hoop your self-adhesive stabilizer with the wording side facing up.

  2. Cut the Paper Layer
Using your blade, lightly cut the paper layer of the stabilizer and peel it back, leaving the sticky stabilizer intact inside the hoop.

  3. Mark the Strap Center
Draw a center line down the middle of your strap. For a 1” strap, this line will be at 0.5”.

  4. Place the Strap
Position the strap vertically on top of the stabilizer in your hoop.
Tip: I like to place a cutting mat underneath the hoop — since the stabilizer is slightly transparent, I use the cutting mat grid to line up the strap perfectly straight.

(Optional: Pin in place if needed.)

  5. Hoop and Prep Your Machine
Attach the hoop to your Brother SE700.

  6. Set Up the Embroidery Font

    • On the machine, select your font.

    • Type in your name or word.

    • For shorter words, select L (lower left corner).

    • For medium-length words, select M.

    • For longer words, select S.

    • Click Set.

  7. Rotate and Align
Click Rotate 90°, then click OK.
    Click Edit End.
Use the arrow buttons to move your needle directly above your center line. Use the hand wheel to double-check that the needle lands exactly where you want it.

  8. Start Embroidering
    Click Embroidery.
    Lower the presser foot.
Press the green start button on the front of your machine — and watch your strap come to life!

And just like that — you’ve got a perfectly embroidered strap that’s ready to use or gift! 🧵✨

This project is a fantastic way to experiment with lettering on your Brother SE700 and get comfortable with precision placement. You can personalize it with different colors of webbing and thread, or even add small icons next to your name for an extra touch of flair.

Whether you’re making one for yourself or a handmade gift for a friend, this quick project proves that sometimes the smallest details make the biggest impact.
